CASSIE – Coastal Analysis via Satellite Imagery Engine
CASSIE is an open source web tool, developed to accomplish Goal 4 of the BaySqueeze project, CASSIE allows the automatic mapping and analysis of the coastline in any coastal zone on the planet.
To accomplish this CASSIE uses the tools and multi-spectral satellite images made available by the Google Earth Engine platform. CASSIE has access to the image collection belonging to the missions Landsat 5 (1984-2011), Landsat 7 (from 1999 to the present), Landsat 8 (from 2013 to the present) and sentinel-2 (from 2013 to the present).
As the Google Earth Engine platform is cloud-based, the use of CASSIE requires internet access, however the data processing of CASSIE is performed by the Google Cloud Platform, so a very robust computer is not required for its use.
