Goals

The BaySqueeze project has the following goals:

  1. Historical review of the bathymetric evolution and occupation of the bay’s mangrove area;
  2. Characterization of the structure and sediment composition of the bay;
  3. Prediction of future impacts (inundation areas, hydrodynamics, sedimentation, and bathymetric evolution) caused by mean sea level rise in the bay;
  4. Investigate the use of mangroves as coastal protection structures against mean sea level rise;
  5. Developing a geospatial data analysis and visualization tool;

To achieve these objectives, the BaySqueeze project is organized into 4 goals:

Goal 1: Eco-morphodynamic evolution of Babitonga Bay.

Goal 2: Sedimentary structure and composition of the Babitonga Bay.

Goal 3: Impact of sea level rise on Babitonga Bay and mitigation measures.

Goal 4: Visualization and analysis of geospatial data via Google Earth Engine.
